Etveza Administration

The following will demonstrate “How Etveza offers simple yet effective injecting mechanism”. Etveza injection is preferably intended to use under the guidance and supervision of expert Physician.
First to initiate Etveza administration, you will require following things

When you are done with the above preparation, you can start the administration process.

  • Hold Water for Injection which is kept on table. Now take the needle & put 1ml Water for injection into the needle.
  • Take Etveza vial & inject 1ml water for injection from the needle slowly into Etveza vial. Insert 25-gauge needle straight down through the center ring of the grey stopper.
  • You should ensure to inject all needle part into the vial to prevent any air bubbles.
  • Push the plunger down very slowly until all Water for Injection from the syringe is transferred in vial.
  • Adding the liquid too fast will cause foaming or bubbles.
  • Gently swirl the vial in a circular motion to dissolve the Etveza powder.
  • Wait until all the powder dissolves. Usually within 10 minutes, dissolution process will be completed.
  • If there is any foam or bubbles even after dissolution of powder, then no need to worry since it is normal.

Please take a special note that do not inject the solution if it is discolored or contains lumps, flakes, or any particles

In case of sensitive patients and to minimize the injection site reactions, you can use 27 gauge needle.

Now, place the syringe on flat work surface until you are ready to inject Etveza.

After preparing Etveza solution, immediate use is recommended

Please take a special note that do not inject into areas where the skin is tender, bruised, red, or hard. Also avoid areas with scars or stretch marks.

However, the constituted solution can be used within 72 hours when stored at temperature of 2°C to 8°C.

Let us see how to administer Etveza from Nurse or from a Physician:

First, wipe the injection site with a new alcohol swab. With one hand, gently pinch the cleaned area of patient skin and hold it firmly. With the other hand, hold the syringe like a pencil at a 45-degree angle & insert the needle into the patient skin.

When the needle is completely inserted into patient skin, let go of the skin that you are holding & push the plunger to inject all Etveza solution at a slow, steady rate.

Take a note that when the syringe is empty, pull the needle out of the skin and be careful to keep it at the same angle as inserted.

After this, you can press a cotton ball or gauze over the injection site for 10 seconds.

Take a special note of not to rub the injection site. If needed, you may cover the injection site with a bandage.

After completion of Etveza injection, keep the patient under observation for half an hour to check for erythema, pruritus or any symptoms of pain.

You have to keep the previous injection site record which will be helpful for the next time injection. A different site should be used for each new injection. Each new injection should be given at least 3 cm from the old site.

Now, let us see how Etveza can be self-administer:

Now that you have decided to self-administer Etveza at home or any other residential place other than hospital, you should take some necessary precautions.

You should ensure that for Etveza administration, you should be trained properly along with 1 person which can act as your helper. A helper can be anyone from your family.

Once you are ready with the helper, you can start Etveza self-administration process. First you should wipe the injection site with a new alcohol swab. Now tell the helper to grab a pinch of your skin between the thumb & forefinger.

Position the needle so that it is pointing straight at the skin. With your other hand hold the syringe like a pencil at 45-degree angle & with a firm smooth motion push the needle through the skin into the space between the skin and the muscle below. Shift your thumb to the plunger and slowly push tall Etveza solution at a slow, steady rate. Count to 5 so that syringe is completely empty.

Note that when the syringe is empty, pull the needle straight out. While doing this be careful to keep it at the same angle as inserted.
You can press a cotton ball or gauze over the injection site for 10 seconds.
